FRANTIC LAST MINUTE CAMPAIGNING LEADING TO TOMORROWS VOTE all the candidates are swarming the States involved in tomorrows big Super Tuesday vote
and the Super PACs are keeping the race going until the last hurdle
Four primary PACs have picked a winner in the GOP nomination. Romney is backed by Restore Our Future PAC. Gingrich has benefited from air time and advertising paid for with millions given by the Winning Our Future PAC. Santorum has received a windfall from spending by the Red, White and Blue Fund PAC and Paul has the aid of the Endorse Liberty PAC.
According to records from Opensecret.org and calculated by TheStreet.com, the four PACs spent $5.9 million between Feb. 29 and March 4 ahead of the Super Tuesday contests.
The money has paid a big role in keeping the Not Romney candidates afloat, but the surge in cash has taken its toll on both wallets and the candidates'
but the effect on the public has been less than favourable with voters being turned off the constant back biting that has been evident throughout
among Latino voters the GOP candicacy fight has not being going down to well either - with the majority of them backing Pres. Obama over Mitt Romney
according to a Fox News poll of likely Latino voters indicated that 73 percent of them approved of Obama’s performance in office, with over half those questioned looking favorably upon his handling of the healthcare debate and the economy, at 66 percent and 58 percent respectively.
so whoever is to be the candidate to face the President he will have his work cut out!*thanks to Fox News for sections of the reportSuper Tuesday 2012: Tuesday, March 6 - StatesAlaska, Georgia, Idaho, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma. Tennessee, Vermont & Virginia

2012 Delegate Tracker
Romney 415 Santorum 176 Gingrich 105 Paul 47
1,144 needed
ROMNEYS NIGHT BUT STILL THE CONTEST GOES ON Romney won six state contests on Tuesday, including Ohio. Santorum picked up three, and Gingrich picked up one.
while Santorum and Gingrich's victories kept the race alive there is no doubt that Romney's delegation count is marching ever upward
the candidates now head into Kansas this weekend and back down South next week for contests in Mississippi and Alabama.
Ohio was an especially good win for Mitt Romney as it awarded him 200 Delegates a very good grab indeed mind it was a close race, between himself and Santorum - possibly too close for the GOP
at his post-election rally in Boston, Romney kept his focus trained on President Obama and expressed confidence in the momentum of his delegate-amassing operation.
"I'm not going to let you down. I'm going to get this nomination," Romney assured the crowd.
Meanwhile Rick Santorum is going nowhere - "We can add to Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Colorado -- now Oklahoma and Tennessee," Santorum said, ticking off his primary and caucus victories to date. "We have won in the West, the Midwest and the South, and we're ready to win across this country."
as for Newt Gingrich he won the night's most valuable contest in terms of sheer Delegates, clinching 46 of the 76 delegates allotted to Georgia. Romney secured 13 while Santorum claimed 2.
the main issue is the voters i just dont think that they are totally convinced by any of these candidates and that is something all of them have to address when the eventual winner takes on the President in the coming battle for the Whitehouse, the attitude of the voters simply seems to be 'Meh'!!! and that has to be addressed *thanks to Fox News for the piccy and help in this report

FOX NEWS LATINO POLL PROVES INTERESTING The Fox News Latino/Latin Insights poll was conducted by Latin Insights, a New York based independent research company, and compiled through a telephone survey conducted among a nationally representative sample of 1,200 likely Latino voters. The respondents were given the option of completing the survey in English and Spanish.
The margin of error for the poll is +/- 2.7 percent with 95 percent confidence.*thanks so much to Fox News for more insight into the thinking of the citizens of the US and for the pic and statement aboveWith 21.5 million Latino citizen adults will be eligible to vote in November 2012, substantially higher than 2008 - this vote target gets more and more important and not just in the traditional Hispanic strongholds of Florida, Nevada or New Mexico but right across the USA (The Census Bureau in 2010 advised there are 50.5 million Hispanic peoples in the US - ie one in every six Americans)
The forecasts are that California, Florida and Illinois will be the States that will register the greatest increases in Hispanic turnout compared to 2008, above 30 percent, while in California, New Mexico and Texas at least one in every five voters will be Latino.
Traditionally this vote demographic has been Democrat but more and more Latino voters express their choice for the GOP so its all to play for
But where does this leave candidates such as Romney who is Mormon, religion does seem to be a very big factor in the United States, even more so than most European countries now, but should it matter? - I think if I had the vote, it would be the person I would vote for regardless of their religious leanings, but thats just my opinion
What does everyone else think?

WILL THE 'SOUTH' BE MAKE OR BREAK FOR NEWT Newt Gingrich is surely hoping the upcoming contests in Kansas, Alabama and Mississippi will be his salvation as he begins to look more and more like the outsider in this rapidly developing two horse race
It looks like the more conservative vote among the party faithful is now favouring Santorum and Gingrich's South Carolina and Georgia wins might not be enough for the former Speaker
Past knowledge has shown that the Southern States are more conservative than others and so may not choose Mitt Romney as their prefered candidate as they perceive him to be too moderateReport from CBS News:
Newt Gingrich's poor showing in every Super Tuesday state except Georgia gives him an increasingly narrow path to win the nomination, one that now depends on the South.
The Gingrich campaign on Wednesday canceled plans to visit Kansas, instead zeroing in on Mississippi and Alabama, which hold primaries next week. The campaign is also looking ahead to Louisiana later this month and Texas after that, putting everything on the line in the South.
"Everything between Spartanburg (S.C.), all the way to Texas. Those all need to go for Gingrich," said campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond.
The fallout from Super Tuesday left Gingrich with little choice. Aside from the unsurprising victory in Georgia, which he represented in Congress for 20 years, he had little to cheer about.
He finished far behind Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum in the other nine states and trailed Ron Paul for fourth place in five of the races. Santorum's victories in Tennessee and Oklahoma — two states with GOP voters similar to Georgia's — raised doubts about Gingrich's appeal to Southern conservatives.
Santorum's campaign was quick to capitalize on his victories Tuesday night.
"And here we are in Oklahoma and Tennessee that we won fairly big. So I think we're going to do really well in the South," said Hogan Gidley, a Santorum spokesman. "Rick's values match up well with the South. His message matches up well in the South."

Romney wins US Virgin Islands, Northern Marianas and GuamThree US territories held caucuses on Saturday giving Mitt Romney victories in each one and adding to his growing delegate count. Residents in US territories cannot actually vote in the General Election, however, under party rules, they are allowed to send delegates to the party conventions.
These are not high profile contests but Romney still sent his son Matt Romney to canvas the islands, he is making every delegate countReport from USAToday:
SAIPAN, Northern Mariana Islands (AP) – Another victory for presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. He's won the Republican caucus in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, picking up nine delegates from the U.S. territory.
Romney won 87% of the 848 votes cast Saturday on the main islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Rick Santorum got 6%. Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich got 3% each on the main island of Saipan.
Romney was considered the favorite. His son Matt and wife Laurie visited Saipan, and he was endorsed by Gov. Benigno R. Fitial, chairman of the island's Republican Party.
Fitial says he and the eight other delegates will support Romney at the Republican National Convention in Florida.
Romney also picked up all nine delegates from Guam during the GOP state convention there Saturday.Santorum wins Kansas GOP caucus As expected, Rick Santorum easily took the Kansas Republican Caucus on Saturday with 51% of the vote. Mitt Romney took second place with 20%. Kansas is a traditional conservative StateReport from the Washington Post:
Former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum has won the Kansas Republican caucuses, the Associated Press projects, giving his campaign a boost as he seeks to make the case for a one-on-one contest against former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination.
With 76 percent of precincts reporting, Santorum was taking 53 percent in this rural Midwestern state that in many ways is tailor-made for him. The former senator has made his conservative views on social issues a focal point in his bid to win the GOP nod.
Romney was running second with 17 percent; former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) was in third place with 16 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), who like Santorum had been campaigning hard in the state in recent days, was in fourth place with 13 percent.
Kansas awards 40 national convention delegates based on the caucus results, with 12 district-wide delegates awarded winner-take-all, 25 at-large delegates awarded proportionally based on the statewide vote and three delegate spots reserved for RNC members[/color] 2012 Delegate Tracker

Alabama & Mississippi Vote Today Its a big day for Romney's opposition, with lots of nice juicy delegates on offer in the Southern Primaries
And the pressure is on Santorum and Gingrich to do well or possibly or ship out of the race
Rommey did not expect to do well in these States and the polls are unexpectedly showing him to be doing just that
"John McCain didn't win either of these states, Alabama or Mississippi," he told Fox News. "We are delighted that we are doing so well there. The polls are suggesting it is kind of a three-way tie. It is an away game for me."
Romney added that many in the two southern states are joining his effort because "the other guys are nice folks, but they have not organized a campaign with a staff, the organization, the fund-raising capacity to actually beat Barack Obama. I have."
Mississippi and Alabama, which have 37 and 47 delegates up for grabs, respectively so they are important States in this race
Evangelical voters play an outsized role in both state primaries. Four years ago, 77 % of GOP primary voters in Alabama and 69 % in Mississippi said they were born again or evangelicals, a group that Romney has struggled to bring to his side in the primaries. His best showing in a contested primary was 38 % in Florida.
So check back here peeps for the results as they come in*thanks to Fox News for the quotesMeanwhile the President is having a downturn in the polls and its largely due to the excessively high gas prices in the US.
Americans are definately not used to high petrol prices the way peeps in the UK are and are not prepared to sit quietly and pay up
A new Washington Post-ABC News survey out Monday showed that 59% gave the president negative marks on the economy
65% found the Presidents handling of the rising petrol prices as unsatisfactory - of that number, 52% were said to "disapprove strongly" and only 14% "approve strongly" of Pres. Obama's performance on gas prices
His approval rating on foreign policy specifically Afganistan was split 50/50
Asked if there was an election today (mon) v Mitt Romney - 47% stated they would vote for the President and 49% would vote for Romney, so its extremely close and events in the coming summer could give Mr Obama his desired four more years or put pay to his re-election
I think what the President needs is a quiet couple of months leading up to the electiion, ie: the economy to show some signs of getting better, petrol prices to reduce and no foreign headaches, so a quiet Iran and Israel's hand not to be forced into striking against the Iranian State.*thanks to Fox news for info on the poll results

RESULTS ARE IN And the winners are Santorum and Romney !!!Mississippi - 32.9% (Gingrich 31.3%, Romney 30.3%, Paul 4.4%) Alabama - 34.5% (Gingrich 29.3%, Romney 29%, Paul 5%) Hawaii - 45.4% (Santorum 25.3%, Paul 18.3%, Gingrich 11%) Santorum wins the South by actual precentage points but Romney carries off a very nice haul of delegates so it was a good night for both candidates
Romney has 495 delegates to Santorum's 252. Gingrich now stands with 131 delegates and Ron Paul with 48.
The delegate count rise for Mitt Romney even though he didnt 'win' the States are because the delegates are divided proportionally in both the Southern States. he also clinched victory in the Hawaii caucuses by a large margin so he grabbed 52% of the delegates, while Santorum only got 23%
Romney also won the small Republican caucus in American Samoa. He picked up all nine delegates in the contest in the U.S. territory Romney's political director Rich Beeson
"Tuesday's results actually increased Governor Romney's delegate lead, while his opponents only moved closer to their date of mathematical elimination," Beeson wrote. "The math is simple. ... Santorum and Gingrich now trail Governor Romney by margins they cannot mathematically make up. ... In order to win, both Santorum and Gingrich need to start netting an impossible number of delegates to overtake Governor Romney." Newt Gingrich on the other hand has not won the battle for the conservative vote, these Southern States were a test for hearts and minds among conservative Republican voters and they went for Santorum over him, he vows he will stay in the race though, but its becoming more and more difficult for him 2012 Delegate Tracker
Romney 495 Santorum 252 Gingrich 131 Paul 48
