4 March 2007 GOAL TECHNOLOGY GO-AHEAD
FOOTBALL'S rulemakers have given the go-ahead for the development of goal-line technology systems. The International Football Association Board (IFAB) meeting in Manchester laid down a number of criteria which the systems must follow, including that they must send an instant signal to referees. FA chief executive Brian Barwick, who was hosting the meeting, said: "This is a critical moment and there is a general consensus that this is the time to move forward. We all believe that goal-line technology is the right way forward for the game."*thanks Sunday Mirror [glow=red,2,300]So Peeps what do you think of that? should the game be left alone or is it time to bring this technolgy in? - after all its there why not use it? please tell us your thoughts[/glow]

exactly gonzales m8 i have said it before and i will say it again human error it is part and parcel of football everyone makes mistakes that is why rubbers are on the end of pencils. Some decisions go for you and some against it has always happened since the game began i dont see why it should be any different.

i agree with yourself Liverpaul and gonzales to a point - but what if a stupid linesman decision or refereeing foopah put us out of a cup? isnt it better to be sure, theres alot riding on these decisions nowadays, a team could qualify for champs league or not, be relegated or not - thats the worrying thing

This is stupid folks
Its 2007 we have to come out of the dark ages, if it works for cricket/rugby etc why not football
There is too much depending on decisions now, a manager can lose his job, teams can lose millions on a bad decision.
Of course bring in video refs :soap:

I think its about time footie came into the 21 century
We have real time action replays for super league and cricket, surely goal line cameras would be as quick as the ref and linesman consulting each other - the 4th official can watch the replay from the sidelines
