Albert Luque's miserable sojourn in England with Newcastle United looks to be drawing to a close after the Spaniard admitted he is at the end of his tether. Brought to the club in the final days of Graeme Souness' tenure, Luque's fortunes have taken a downturn since the appointment of Glenn Roeder - a manager far from convinced about the forward's capabilities. Luque's woes were exacerbated in midweek when he was overlooked for Newcastle's Carling Cup game against Watford, despite Roeder's striking options being at breaking point through injury. Reports from the North East have suggested Barcelona could make a shock approach for the former Deportivo La Coruna favourite, who would evidently be delighted with such a proposal. "My situation is now desperate," Luque said "It is incredible that I was not picked for Watford. "The final decision is with the coach and, if he is not interested in me, the best solution is for me to go, probably in the winter market. "I'm very unhappy here" * * * Sky Sports 12 Nov 06 my word it seems amazing to me that considering the situation the Geordies find themselves in that they would rule out any options open to them
