BAROS TO CZECH OUT OF VILLA
ASTON VILLA boss Martin O'Neill last night admitted he doubts Milan Baros wants to stay at the club and fears he may never get the best out of the mercurial striker.
The Czech hitman, 25, won the golden boot at Euro 2004 and has dazzled on the international stage for his country, scoring 27 goals in 47 matches.
But he has flopped at Villa Park following a £6.5million move from Liverpool in August 2005 where he also failed to live up to his reputation. Baros managed just eight goals in the Premiership for Villa last term and has only scored once this season under O'Neill
And the striker has cut a forlorn figure in recent weeks - looking disillusioned on the bench in the club's last two Premiership games.
"I wouldn't be sure if he wanted to stay," admitted O'Neill. "If a striker is not scoring goals then he is going to ask himself some questions.
"He is still trying to find the form that earned him a move to Liverpool and won him the golden boot. He scored against Sheffield United and like everyone else goals give boosts of confidence.
"Milan has started a fair few games for us and when he hasn't started he has been on the bench.
But ultimately it is up to players - I don't have a magic wand to bring the best out of people." French champions Lyon, managed by former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier, recently expressed an interest in taking Baros on loan.
But the striker is likely to be in Villa's side for their FA Cup third round trip to Manchester United on Sunday.
