LIVERPOOL are resigned to losing a potential £8m from the permanent transfer of Djibril Cisse to Marseille this summer. Marseille are increasingly unlikely to make the striker’s move back to France permanent as he’s endured an unhappy spell back home. Cisse’s run of four goals in 14 games hasn’t endeared himself to the supporters, and after their initial enthusiasm to sign the forward, Marseille now say they won’t make a decision until the end of the season. Liverpool are viewing this as a negative sign. Cisse is not part of Rafa Benitez’s plans. He’d originally hoped to sell the player prior to last summer’s World Cup before he suffered a broken leg in a warm-up match, eventually agreeing to less satisfactory loan deal. Liverpool’s record signing has made another brave recovery from injury to return to competitive football, but clearly he’s struggling to have the same impact in France as he did at Auxerre, who Gerard Houllier paid £14m to bring him to Anfield. by Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo Apr 17 2007

I rate him as a player,if I remember rightly he scored about nineteen goals the season before he left for Marseille. And he played most of that season out on the right not up front. it's a shame it did'nt work out for him at Liverpool because I think he is a good player who can do a job for any side.

totally agree kenny not only was cisse used on the right he played there if he ever played at all and to score 19 goals is some return but maybe 2 broken legs has paid its price on poor djibril.

But surely if Rafa's game plan doesn't include him it would be better for him to go to another club?

I think cos Rafa didnt buy Cisse and Houllier did he didnt feel an attachment to him - i think he'd let him go no bother

That might be a good point mate, Rafa might want to rebuild everything with players that he wants instead of what other managers wanted ![:-[](http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k25/scousysmurf/smilies/12TH.gif)
